February 2, 2010

The Broadway success that is Billy Elliot hit a major milestone on January 24, 2010, when the Tony Award-winning musical celebrated 500 wonderful shows completed on the Great White Way. Billy Elliot tickets are now rivaling Jersey Boys as the second highest selling Broadway ticket out there, and the cast did the right thing by having a party! The so-called “Billy boys” (Tony Award winner Trent Kowalik, Liam Redhead, Alex Ko, Dayton Tavares and Michael Dameski, plus esteemed Billy Elliot the Musical director Stephen Daldry, were all out at the Glass House Tavern in New York’s Theater District, where they enjoyed cake and celebration of their magnificent production. Director Daldry was like a young lad himself, throwing icing around and inciting much mischief, and everyone involved raised their glass – or their fork – to another 500 performances of Billy Elliot! The Broadway smash is going strong, and is promising to become one of the truly legendary Broadway runs. The Billy Elliot schedule is in great shape and showing no signs of stopping!
